Nancy





nancy facultyNANCY S. SMITH, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR     DANCE & YOGA FACULTY                 

Nancy has been working in the field of dance education for over fifteen years. After completing her MA degree at New York University’s prestigious Steinhardt School for Education, Culture & Human Development, she began working in both dance administration and education in New York City. Nancy has been on the faculty and directed programs at Harkness Dance Center’s 92Y, Peridance Capezio Center and Brooklyn Ballet. She instructed classes at UNIS, the United Nations International School as well as Village Community School. In 2011 she gained 225hour Hatha Yoga Certification. Most recently, Nancy traveled to India where she deepened her practice at Mysore Mandala and Yoga India. She is currently working toward certification in mat Pilates.

Ashlea, originally from Myrtle Beach, SC, graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Dance along with a concentration in health as her minor from Winthrop University in 2013. Throughout her time at Winthrop she was apart of many organizations, President of Terpischore (a dance service organization), Vice President of Communications for the Student Alumni Council, a member of Alpha Psi Omega (Theatre and Dance Honor Society), and Delta Zeta Sorority. Miss Sovetts has participated in many dance conferences and festivals, the South Carolina Dance Association’s annual conference, the Charlotte Dance Festival, the Florida Dance Festival, American College Dance Festival, and the Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium. Ashlea remained very involved at Winthrop as her duties ranged from being a dancer and choreographer to a stage manager, arts advocate and researcher. After graduation, Ashlea interned at Fringe Arts, in Philadelphia, PA under the programming department, where she continued to grow her interest in arts administration. Her future goals are to receive her Masters in Arts Administration and work for a not for profit dance organization one day in hopes to spread her love for dance to others.

Joanna "Jo" Ducey

Jo Ducey webOriginally from Boston, Massachusetts is a certified Vinyasa and Forrest Yoga teacher, Thai Massage Therapist, and Holistic Health Counselor. Jo originally came to the yoga mat having heard about the healing effects of the practice. She completed her initial 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Back Bay Yoga in Boston, specializing in Vinyasa Flow.  Months later, she travelled to England to take Ana Forrest's 200-hour Training in Forrest Yoga, a grounding and deep practice that incorporates a special focus on neck, back and shoulders, an emphasis on working from the physical and emotional core of the body, and slightly longer holds in poses. **Jo is currently the only instructor offering this unique style in the Carolinas.**

Angela Giacomelli

Angela Giacomelli/ Yoga Faculty


Angela Giacomelli is a singer/songwriter and athlete by trade. Originally from Michigan she moved to Las Vegas to perform in multiple shows on the Las Vegas strip and Los Angeles. Still performing today in North Myrtle Beach Angela also continues to teach yoga. 
Fitness has always played a major role in Angela’s life. A former tennis player and marathon runner she appeals to those who want to build a strong practice as well as to those looking for healing within their practice as she accredits the philosophy of yoga to have saved her life   during difficult times. 

Her voice is soothing and strong, a perfect combination to guide you and calm you throughout the flow sequence. She is also known for her closing meditation chants, using her voice to create healing vibrations in the room during Savasana. 

Angela takes much pride in being able to introduce yoga to new students as yoga has played a very special part in her life, she enjoys sharing it with others and witnessing the transformation it gives. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Elinore Cohen at Pure Flow Yoga where she taught for a year before moving to the east coast. Angela Specializes in Vinyasa Flow, Children’s Yoga, chanting and has acted as a life coach for the past four years.
